Welcome to the Class of 1988's First Blog (That we know of!)
Hi! This is Page Gunter Doby and I would like to welcome you to our class blog and invite you to update us on what is new with you since 1988! Rob and I have been asked to chair our upcoming 20th Reunion, October 24-25 in Nashville. We are thrilled to be a part of the planning but realize the most important part of a successful Reunion is YOU!
So, tell us what you have been up to and to find others you know on this site to reconnect with old friends - and I use the term "old" very loosely!
To practice what we preach, we will start out with what we have done for the past 20 years. Like many of you, we left Nashville after college. Rob knew he was going to attend law school and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my geology (!) degree. So I worked in the pubilc affairs department of a bank until Rob graduated from SMU and then we moved to Fort Worth. Rob has been with the same firm for 17 years and I have done various things but now own two businesses that I really enjoy; www.putnamhouse.net and www.nelleandlizzy.com.
We have three boys ages 12, 10 and 8 who keep us extremely busy. We never knew baseball had so many games and practices! They are great and they love watching Vanderbilt basketball.
We have a great Reunion planning committee in place. Clay and Jayne Ann (Waggenor) Milling are heading up the fundraising committee, Mike and Anne (Helms) Marino are in charge of Attendance and John and Courtney (Cranz) Madden are planning a great weekend of events for us. If you would like to help on any of the committees, we would LOVE to have you be a part of the planning. Just contact me at robandpage@sbcglobal.net and we will put you to work!
So far, our tenative plans for Reunion Weekend are as follows: Friday, Oct 24th. There be lots of day activities leading up to our class party that evening but none are yet set in stone, so stay tuned! But that night, we know we will have our all-class party on the Vanderbilt campus. SATCO will be catering this fun-filled, casual evening so come by and enjoy a fajita while catching up with everyone. Saturday, Oct. 25th. The Reunion office has more activities that day, but be sure and buy tickets to see the Commodores take on Duke! Following the game, it is our hope that everyone will make plans with friends to have dinner and then meet up for another gathering off-campus that night. Cardin (Wyatt) Bradly and Lisa (Lloyd) Hamlin are heading up the evening's activities and we will be sure to pass on the details once they are finalized.
We hope you have made your reservations for Reunion! If not, we would encourage you to do that as soon as possible as many of the hotels are already booked. You can use the links on the Vanderbilt Reunion website to help you in your search for a hotel, or for any questions you have regarding Reunion. That address is: www.vanderbilt.edu/alumni/reunion. Thanks for participating and we really hope to see you in October!!!
